Felicity

Always look on the cat side of life…

My computer’s hard drive failed at the beginning of the weekend, and I’m grumpy.

I’m grumpy that all computer problems seem to happen just after the repair shops shut for the weekend. And I’m grumpy with myself for being a total idiot*, and not doing a backup as soon as I got back from the US, so I may have lost my trip photos (sniff).  And I’m grumpy that I’m having to use my old laptop, and it’s slow, and won’t run half my programmes, and a lot of pages on the internet.  There has been a lot of me shouting ‘GAH!’ at the computer and stomping off to clean something while it loads over the weekend.

On the bright side**, I’ve re-discovered all of the old photos of Felicity that are on my old computer (yes, I have them on multiple backup sources, safeguarded against the inevitable moment when this computer dies, but I don’t dig in the backups that often).

And Felicity is adorable.  She is eminently un-grump inducing.

So here is a random selection of Felicity nostalgia.

There now, I feel a lot better!

* It doesn’t make it suck less, but I think it’s kinda fair to blame that particular bit of idiocy  on jetlag. Mr D found me sitting on the floor in front of the closet today, holding two clearly non-matching, non-suitable-for-gardening shoes in my hands, trying to work out 1) why they weren’t the same, and 2) how I was going to climb around in the bushes and dig a hole while wearing one sheepskin bootie and one suede heel.  He knew this was what I was trying to work out, because I was having a detailed conversation with the shoes about it.

** If you know me, or read a lot of my stuff, you were probably waiting for the inevitable moment when I turned from ‘complain, complain’ to ‘on the bright side…’

Man oh man! Sorry to hear about that. Then again, more Felicity time feels great. (Felicity’s canine US-analogue, Queen Ivy the Glorious Wonderdog at my house always likes more cuddles and more pictures shared)

Hope things are set to rights, soon enough.

It goes without saying that Felicity is gorgeous, cute and adorable all at once. I am rather worried about you talking to your mismatched shoes, however, but admission is the first step to recovery. 😉

  3. I hope you get the photos back! There are some really good data recovery people around Wellington so it’s possible, and I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Felicity’s a sweetie, and she has such beautiful whiskers.

  4. That sounds like quite a case of jet lag, all right. Sympathy.

Anyway, thanks for sharing the Felicity photos with us. She is such a beautiful cat!

  5. I just wanted to say I discovered your website a couple of months ago I really love it.

I see that you are Hawaiian. I just moved to Hawaii a year ago.

Now that live in Hawaii I do not have any place to carry on with my sewing lessons.

Do you have any ideas about where to sew in Hawaii??? I am on Oahu.

I am so disappointed that there is no vintage clothing in Hawaii.
I am sad that there are no vintage clothing groups to join.

    • Unfortunately I can’t help you much with Hawaii leads. I haven’t lived in Hawaii for over a decade, and when I did, I was on Moloka’i, which is a world unto itself.

If I was in a new place looking for a sewing community I’d ask at all the fabric and craft stores, particularly smaller, locally owned ones. Same goes for vintage clothing: I know there are vintage shops on Oahu.

And if there isn’t already a group, then start one yourself! It’s what I’ve had to do in Wellington for historical sewing, and it took a while, but now I have a great, if small, community 🙂

      • I did not know it has been over decade. Tis all right.
Yes I have heard of Moloka’i. I have heard it is very rural.

What a great idea!!! I will do this. There are only a few here an
        they are locally owned.

I have been told quite a few times
by different people there are no vintage clothing shops.
        Only 3 resale clothing shops.

Start a group!! OY girl I am not that talented.
I bow down to you. We are going to go to Australia,
while we live in Hawaii. I am excited about this.

Did you see the new Queens dresses
that have been made??? I have seen pictures
they look impressive. I am going to go
down to puchbowl an see them in person.
Thank you for replying to me.

  6. So sorry! Losing photographs is so heart wrenchingly sad. I hope you are able to recover your photos.
