In a recent Instagram post you talked about cord gathering. Please explain this method. I’m an historical fiction author and dress in period clothing for personal appearances. I’m preparing to alter the skirt of a two piece dress (I lost weight and it’s now too big), and plan to make another dress before year’s end.

  2. Hello. Did I miss your tutorial for having button top of of a zipper on a dress? Fingers crossed. Thank you

    • Sorry, that tutorial has been taken down due to technical issues with the photos, and I won’t be able to get it back up again anytime in the foreseeable future 🙁

Do you know where I can acquire patterns for dresses for the 19thC from say 1870 to 1890? If you could help me I would really, really appreciate it.!

I was looking at your petticoat to go over a crinoline. There is a link to a hoopskirt tutorial, but I keep landing on the Rate the Dress page. I had a look at the tutorials offered above, but can’t find it. Am I having a ‘boy look’?
I love your site and have bookmarked it 🙂

I very much like the many shades of brown 1720s gown with the back pleats… could not submit a rate the dress comment but I think it is a 9 where 10 is the best. Also if there is a pattern for that type of transitional gown I would love to get it.
