Sitting pet-y

Remember how I told you there are a LOT of of good photos from the photoshoot Theresa and I had at the old Dominion Museum?  Yeah.  I wasn’t kidding! This is one of my favourites from the whole shoot.  There is something about her mouth and eyes that really reminds me of a Gainsborough: The whole series is pretty spectacular though, both standing in front of the windows, and sitting on the windowsill.

Rate the Dress: Worth of 1875

UPDATE: Five months late I am happy to tell you that Anne of Denmark rated a 7.5 out of 10, and that while not all of you loved the dress as a dress, you all agreed that Anne was rocking it, and had the attitude to pull off pretty much anything.  Sounds like Anne grew into her style! I think this Worth afternoon dress transitions nicely from Anne of Denmark’s dress last week.  There is something every so slightly reminiscent of the early 17th century in the deep neckline and the front bow, and the whole extremely sculpted silhouette is something it shares with the late Elizabethan. The overall look, however, is quite late Victorian, with its abundance of construction details and overall impression of upholstery.  You rather liked our last ‘upholstery’ Rate the Dress.  What do you think of this one? The ‘Winter Boyfriend’ coat

Just the facts, Ma’am: Fabric:  3 metre of 70 wool/30 viscose blend ($23 per metre), 2.5 metres of vintage acetate moire lining ($3) Pattern:  Style 1671, frankensteined with other patterns Year:  1978 Notions:  thread, 4 buttons (inherited from Nana), interfacing ($7 per metre) And the insides?    Fully lined, with lace & bias hemming. Hours:  13.  I swear I re-set those side seams half a dozen times each getting them to hang right. First worn?:  Monday 20 August Wear again?:  Yes, but I’m hoping that by the time I get back from 3 weeks in Hawaii I won’t need it again until next winter! Make again?:  Nope.  No pattern love from me.
