Danger, danger!

This is why you should never spread patterns out, and then leave the room even for a second, even if you think the cat is safely outside! Amazingly, this story has a happy ending. I spread patterns out, went to put on the kettle.  Cat saw an opportunity.  Cat occupied patterns. Cat fell asleep. Cat slept, and slept, and slept, and slept, rolling over to show her tummy, and curling up, and stretching out, and yawning, and rolling over and sleeping more, all while I bit my nails and prayed. Then cat woke up, chuckled evilly to herself, having caused just as much anxiety as if there had been real destruction, and went off to do other cat business. The patterns are a bit rumpled, but fine.

Historical Sew Fortnightly – Favourites for Challenges 11-15

I can’t believe we are more than halfway done with the Historical Sew Fortnightly!  I’m half thrilled with what I have accomplished, and sad looking at the rest of the year and realising I’m never going to get all the things I want made.  My wish-list is just too long! I shared my favourites for Challenges 1-5 here, and for Challenges 6-10 here.  You can see all  the creations for each challenge (because there are always dozens more creations that I wish I could feature!) either through the comments for each individual challenge page,  or through the  Facebook group albums). I’ll share my favourites for …

Links and connections

I’ve been thinking about links and connections a lot lately. The first, and super obvious, reason is because I have some awesome links to share with you! In case you missed my notification, or don’t follow me on Facebook, the third issue of Glory Days is out.  My article on crinolines & petticoats is on pages 52/53, but there is plenty of other fun to be had throughout the magazine.  I particularly enjoyed Natasha Francoise’s article on Bodgies & Widgies, and Clarissa Dunn’s history of the Opera House in Wellington. If you missed them, you can also read Issues 1 & 2 in the archives as well – I’ve written articles for all three issues.  Glory Days is crowdfunding to raise money to pay the staff and make it a paper issues (which would be fabulous – Christmas gifts sorted for half the people I know with subscriptions!), so if you can, please do give a little. You’ve already seen the photos of Polly / Oliver that Sarah the Photographer took on my dinky little …
