Buh…buh…buh…buh…batfly!

Lady Caitlyn and I were talking about batflies last night.

Well, more accurately, I was telling her everything I know about batflies, which all comes from this song:

I love it!  It has the best lines ever:

“I won’t/see you/later/be/cause/I am /blind”

And best yet, the puppet makers and prop makers are all here in Wellington.  I even know some of them.  I love all the fabulous creativity in this city!

Rate the Dress – 1700s mantua

The assessment of  last week’s dress was fairly unanimous, with most people expressing that Maria didn’t do the dress justice.    As Jo-Anne astutely summed it up, the dress was overpowering.  Some of you did approved of Maria’s ‘death stare/don’t give a damn/emo’ attitude though, and combined with the stunning (if mis-worn) dress she rated a 6.5 – not a complete failure.*

I’m still in a glitzy, metallic mood (OK, when am I not in a glitzy, metallic mood!), so I present for your consideration this turn-of-the-century (the 18th century) Italian confection of Madonna blue and silver, from the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Are you in love?  Or are you in like?  Or is your reaction more along the lines of “burn it now please?”

*P.S. Am I the only one that was really, really tempted to photoshop Kristen Stewart’s face into the painting?  I swear, it would make total sense if she was a reincarnation of Maria!

Oh to have been there: a vintage Cine-Kodak Eight camera bag

This is my latest fun aquisition

It’s a vintage Cine-Kodak Eight camera bag. I have no idea what the camera is like, but I love the bag.

It has stickers from hotels that the owner visited on a tour around the world!

Los Angeles, Boston, Paris, Tokyo, all from the days when you got beautiful hotel stickers. *swoon*

I want to go to all those places! And get hotel stickers…

But I would like to keep the mod cons and my internet please.

I’m torn between keeping the bag pristine, keeping the bag and using it as a handbag, and selling the bag on to fund business expansions, knowing that a sacrifice now will enable more pogey bait later on.
