The HSF ’13: Favourites for Challenges 21-26

Woohoo!  HSF ’13 is DONE!  We made it! So many beautiful creations came out of this year.  Some owe their existence entirely to the HSF, some we would have made anyway, but the HSF allowed more people to see and enjoy them.  I’m so proud of myself, and so very, very inspired by all of you! As the year has passed I’ve been sharing my favourites for each challenge in sets of 5.  I shared my favourites for  Challenges 1-5 here, and for  Challenges 6-10 here, and for  Challenges 11-15 here, and    for Challenges 16-20 here.  You can see  all  the creations for each challenge either through the comments for each individual challenge page,  or through the  Facebook group albums). My favourites are the ones that most inspire me as a seamstress, and best reflect the goals of the HSF: to keep creating, and to push ourselves as sewers and historians, no matter what level we are starting from.  There are always too many to pick as favourites, so check out the full albums …

The Historical Sew Fortnightly 2014

One year, a challenge every fortnight (due on the first & 15th of the Month), and at the end of it, 24 fabulous historical garments.  Or do the half-marathon, and do either the odd numbered challenges, or the even numbered challenges How it works: Every fortnight in 2014 will feature a themed challenge and we’ll each sew (or knit, or crochet, or tatt, or embroider, or whatever it is you call making a hat, or otherwise create) a historical garment or accessory that fits the theme. I’ll announce the first seven Challenges of HSF ’14 after HSF ’13 Challenges 20-26 close, respectively, and then announce the remaining 17 HSF ’14 Challenges  in one big lot in January 2014.  I’ll continue to do inspiration posts for the Challenges 8 challenges ahead throughout the year. You can do as many or as few Challenges as you want, though I’d encourage people to aim to do either the full 24 (full marathon) or every other challenge (half marathon, picking either the even numbered challenges or the odd numbered …

The HSF: Favourites for Challenges 16-20

Woohoo!  We’re heading into the last six challenges of HSF ’13!  I can’t believe how successful it’s been, and how much I have sewn, and the amazing things other people have sewn. As we got past the halfway point I did find myself lagging, and struggling to keep going, and I don’t think I was the only one.  There was a definite decline in entries for each challenge over the low at the end of summer/winter.  Things seem to be picking up again as we head into the last few challenges, so hopefully we will finish off the year with a surge of sewing amazingness. Despite the slight lull, there was still lots of individual amazingness in the creations that were submitted, and selecting only three items that inspired me for each challenge was still a struggle.  I shared my favourites for  Challenges 1-5 here, and for  Challenges 6-10 here, and for Challenges 11-15 here.  You can see  all  the creations for each challenge either through the comments for each individual challenge page,  or through …
