There is a meme going around the internet giving instruction on ‘how to trap a cat‘.
Basically you create a circle on the floor, cat is attracted to the circle, cat sits in circle, you have trapped a cat. Hurrah!
Apparently they like the feeling of borders.
Obviously I had to try this on Felicity.
So I laid out a measuring tape in a rough circle near Felcity.
Hmmm…maybe I need a fabric circle? Fabric is basically irresistible to her. And look, it’s even a circle within a circle!
Maybe if I do one on the floor, instead of the rug?
Oooookay….ummmmm…maybe outside? She loves hanging out on the lawn. I can make a perfect one out of hose:
And then, after leaving tempting circles all over the place for her all day, with nil success, I went outside and found her relaxing luxuriantly amongst the weeds in the square planter box, which she has never shown any interest whatsoever in before.
I think unadulterated cats will always mess with you.
They know what you’re up to and they will majestically ignore you.
Boxes make an even better trap. Especially cardboard boxes; my Zola is attracted to cardboard; he’ll happily lie on a nice piece of cardboard in preference to a wool rug.
Animals really are their own persons. Ivy the Glorious Dog-Baby likes to wag her tail and do anything other than what is asked. Or not. You know, it’s more about what she wants.
They never do what you really want them to do, especially if it can ruin your photo-op. Contrary little beasties.
Hehe. Yep! That’s exactly it!
She knew…she KNEW what you were up to!
…My cat’s the same way 😉
She certainly did!
The question is what would you do with her once you had trapped her? Cuddles? Food? Complete and utter adoration?
Hehe. She gets all of those in spades already! I’m afraid I probably would have laughed at her. 😉 And then given her cuddles and praise!
So there was no incentive to tempt Miss Fissy as she has everything her feline heart desires already. Bless her. 🙂
Your kitty has a highly developed sense of humour. 😉
Sorry about the double post! I had a little brain hiccup which necessitated a correction. 🙂
No worries! We all have that brain hiccup, and I have removed the undesirable one, so no-one will ever know 😉
Thank you! It’s a relief not to have it staring at me anymore. 🙂
Once upon a time, if you meddled in the affairs of cats, they
pee-ed on something.
Felicity just trumped you with an ancient geometry puzzle of squaring the circle. That’s one Golden Mean sabre-tooth
kitty cat.
Aw man, that fluffy tummy 5 pictures down. It makes me think of Step 4: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/kitty_pet
